Ghana's timber exports decrease in quantity and value rises

　　Due to the shortage of log resources, Ghana’s timber exports in the first quarter fell from 90,000 cubic meters in the same period last year to 62,000 cubic meters in the first quarter of this year, a drop of nearly one-third, and the value of exported timber also increased from the same period last year. US$30 million fell to US$22 million in the first quarter of this year.

　　The chief executive officer of the Ghana Forestry Commission said that although the volume of timber exports has declined, the value of exports has increased. At the same time, he added that reducing Ghana's timber exports is to achieve the goal of increasing export value. He also mentioned that the Ghanaian government must support the timber industry to develop more value-added timber products.
